Exmoor locals decorate remote moorland tree in time for Christmas

Devon PR and Press photographer Guy Harrop makes the most of being snowed in.

More snow and freezing conditions spread across the Southwest at the weekend as the UK braces itself for more arctic weather. Devon Press and PR photographer Guy Harrop managed to get a couple of images sent out to some papers despite getting snowed in in North Devon. Almost feels and looks like Christmas.

Southwest based award winning PR and news photographer Guy Harrop has just shot a fashion launch campaign for a leading charity in the Westcountry. The images above are part of a set which are being launched to promote wedding and evening wear. Guy, who has also shot several profile weddings in between his busy PR and magazine schedule was able to try out some new t/s lenses and several ringflashes during the day. Said Guy, " Creative portraiture, engagement and wedding fashion shoots seem very popular with clients across the Southwest at the moment, this is probably due to the recent Royal engagement of Prince William to Kate Middleton".

Westcountry food photographer Guy Harrop's Croatian food images are soon to be online for purchase through International food picture libraries. Guy, who specializes in food shoots and PR has been colating several series of images from across Europe and winning several International awards along the way. Said Guy, "Styling and making food photography work can be so much fun especially when you see the end results published worldwide". Guy is currently making sets, cooking and planning a series of Christmas images in his studio in Devon in between his daily PR and commisioned work.

Food photography images blend success with textures.

Westcountry food photographer Guy Harrop catches up with more award winning food producers across the region. Guy, who specialises in food images for a range of clients across the UK has been shooting food for several years now, and last year two of his reportage cheese images won him two International awards. Guy said, " It is great when you can get into the texture of the food and the cheeses we have in the South West are certainly good".

The world of the modern photographer is a busy one. Keeping up with social trends and networking can take so much of your time. Constant emails, photo downloading and editing also leaves us with a smaller amount of time to photograph, which is what we do best. 15 years ago we had film and a darkroom, now with modern digital slr cameras everyone is a photographer. Being a professional means keeping and thinking ahead of the game and constantly pushing yourself to make yourself stand out. We do embrace technology and we never stop learning and enjoying.

Portrait and PR photographer wins International award following on from last year's success

South West PR portrait photographer Guy Harrop is celebrating winning another International accolade for one of his portrait images of a 4 month old baby girl in the International Aperture Awards 2010. The shoot which was commissioned last month by a young family just made the deadline by 1 hour with Guy rushing to process after back to back jobs all day. Said Guy, " Time was an issue as I was aware of this deadline closing in. Fortunately I was able to process in time and send it across for the competition which is sponsored by Nikon Australia. This news is great as it all adds to my tally of 4 International awards I won last year and being Internationally recognised again goes hand in hand as the business grows from strength to strength ."

Regular food shoots for clients across the UK have recently prompted Westcountry food photographer Guy Harrop to get growing and planting more rustic looking varieties of veg and fruit for use on shoots. Pictured are home grown end of season tomatoes from the many types available. Apart from commissioned work Guy also shoots a lot of stock images for food picture libraries and finding the right looking produce can not always be that easy.

Wedding bells ring as pirates seal the knot in historic smuggling village of Clovelly,Devon. A group of medics from the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford who have dressed up as Pirates of the Caribbean each Sept for the past four years to raise money for Cancer Research have got married this weekend in costume even exchanging pirate vows. Westcountry PR travel photographer Guy Harrop keeps ahead of the crowds in Croatian lakes

A queue of umbrella clad visitors enjoy the first heavy rainfall of the season walking through the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. The lakes get their deep changing colours from calcium and magnesium carbonate from mountain rivers washing through the limestone rocks. The lakes which have 25 km of walking trails attract over 1 million visitors each year and were officially opened in April 1996 after 4 years of Serbian occupation during the civil war.

Torrington Cavaliers burn torches ready for castle bonfire

World's biggest food fight La Tomatina 2010 begins in 5 days time

Tomato madness is about to hit Spain next Wednesday when the annual La Tomatina food fight festival starts. Westcountry press photographer Guy Harrop went to take photos a few years ago and found the experience truly insane. Firstly you are herded in your thousands into small streets lined with plastic, then trucks dump tons and tons of squishy tomatoes. Everyone rips everybody shirts off them and then you fight throwing tomatoes in insane bodily heat under the midday sun. They go everywhere after an hour of no escape you can make your way out and get hosed down by locals, have a beer, party or catch the train home. Westcountry food photographer's Dad has triple yolk egg surprise

My dad, Bob, was a hotelier for 25 years, before retirement, has cooked over 155,000 eggs and this morning as the eggs went into the pan for his daily English breakfast, there was a triple yolk egg.
Having grown up on a farm he has seen his fair share of eggs and cooked with them too, but the chances of  getting three yolks are apparently one out of every 25 million eggs.
