Puffin photos finally edited and soon to be online for sale

 Westcountry PR photographer Guy Harrop spent a couple of days following puffins and finally got lucky. Puffins are colourful stubby little birds and with the right photo kit can make a couple of good photos. They are very quick and do not sit still too long so keeping an eye constantly around you, as you are waiting for them to hunt for food and come back during nesting season becomes second nature. Guy was also lucky, as 2 previous visits had been uneventful. Said Guy, " I don't really take nature photos too often. You usually have to have a bit of time on your hands and wait a while for something to happen. But when it does it can be so rewarding and worth every minute". Guy regularly supplies International stock libraries with his images which are available worldwide.

Light can be magical and living on the edge of Exmoor has it's perks. Westcountry Photographer Guy Harrop has been making the most of this weeks moody mists, up and out before dawn, chasing the light in the mornings and evenings across Exmoor and beyond.

Devon PR photographer scoops another International photographic award

Westcountry Photographer Guy Harrop is celebrating after winning a Silver award in the FEP (Federation of European Photographers) European Professional Photographer of the Year Award 2011 for one of his images of a Russian Ballet company touring the UK. 
Guy's entry depicting Big Ballet stars getting ready for their performance at the Landmark theatre in Devon helped him win a silver award in the reportage category of the competition.  The prestigious International competition attracts entries from the world’s top professional photographers and this year, 2011, received over 2,000 entries from over 20 countries worldwide
Guy who works across the Westcountry for his client base is regularly published both in regional and national press. This win adds to his tally of over 5 International awards in the last 3 years for his photographic work with images taken from both in the UK and abroad.
“It is great to be recognised Internationally for my work and to win an award in such a prestigious competition is just fantastic news. This year has been great for me as I have watched the business grow, taking on more commercial PR for leading businesses, both across the region and nationally”, said Guy.

Silly walking popular again thanks to the National Trust One walking campaign

Silly walks are all the craze thanks to a new 1 mile walking campaign launched this week by the National Trust South West. The ‘National Trust Silly Walking’ initiative forms part of ‘National Trust One’ – a new set of 101 downloadable, regional mile-long walks. The National Trust’s national Walking Festival runs until October 30th. Silly walkers are being encouraged to film themselves and their families silly walking over the course of half term and upload to www.ntsouthwest.co.uk/sillywalks. National Trust launch 101 walks across the South West of England

Dust off the boots, wipe down the wellies, take out the trainers and flick on the flip-flops! To celebrate the changing seasons with a bit of fresh air fun and uncomplicated outdoor adventure, National Trust South West is launching an exciting new range of one-mile walks.  As part of the Trust’s nationwide Walking Festival, the new ‘National Trust One’ campaign delivers 101 short walks across the South West graded in difficulty from flip flops to wellies to walking boots. Traditional cider harvesters enjoy bumper crop

Westcountry Scrumpy time. Apple pickers gather the years cider apples during harvest at Ostler's cider Mill, one of only a handful of traditional cider orchards left in Devon.  This year has seen their sales increase twofold as Nationwide cider demand is on the up again. Harvest time for cider fruit is roughly from September to November and by October most of the fruit has fallen to the ground ready to be picked.
