Fourth Year International success for Devon food photographer Guy Harrop.


Devon based food photographer Guy Harrop is celebrating  after winning several International accolades in an International Food Photography Competition. Guy was highly commended with one image, then commended for four others in the at the Pink Lady ® Food Photographer Of The Year 2015.

His image titled “In Charge” was awarded highly commended in the Philip Harben Award For Food In Action category, in memory of Philip Harben, the first TV chef in the UK at an awards ceremony in London. The image was taken of top chef Neil Haydock directing staff in the kitchen at Zachry's restaurant, Watergate Bay, Cornwall, UK during a Trencherman’s Guide launch.

Guy was also commended for four other photographs in the worldwide competition.


Chefs working in @Abode restaurant Exeter for a Trencherman’s launch was also commended  in The Philip Harben Award For Food In Action category.


An autumn kale harvest photo, taken near South Molton and a crab fisherman stacking crab pots before winter in Clovelly were  both commended in the Bring Home The Harvest category.


A Clovelly herring fisherman pulling in nets was commended in the Food Off The Press category.


It is the fourth year of the competition and the fourth year Guy has won awards at this International competition, previously winning his category, runner up twice and several highly commended and commended awards.

Said Guy, “ I just love food photography and cooking, they creates such great opportunities for great images. I am very lucky to have worked with such amazing producers, chefs and restaurants across the South West. The food in the Westcountry is fabulous and some of our food is the best in the country. “

This year’s competition attracted almost 6500 images from 56 countries and the judges included food critic Jay Rayner, chef Michel Roux Jnr and chef Valentine Warner.

Guy has worked for a variety of companies from small family businesses to large, global retailers and charities such as Sainsbury's, RHS, Tesco, British Army and the National Trust. Said Guy,” My clients are quite varied and are mainly based across the South West. I love challenges and working with businesses who need creative eye catching photography.”
