Snowdrop valley in bloom as Spring is around the corner

Spring is on its way as snowdrops emerge in Snowdrop Valley on Exmoor.  They were originally introduced to the valley in the 13th century by monks from nearby Dunster as a symbol of Candlemas (2nd February) and for years the valley was kept secret by locals. Today thousands of visitors travel from all over the world to see the snowdrops which usually only last for 3 weeks. This year the snowdrops have been very early and with the changeable weather there has been around a third less than previous years.
