Wild Ponies battle it out in spring ritual

Wild Exmoor ponies fight in the Valley of Rocks, Lynton, Devon. The ponies, one of the worlds oldest breeds, has been preserved unchanged on Exmoor for centuries and there are fewer than 800 breeding females in the world. They were introduced to the Valley Of Rocks several years ago famed for it's feral goats and this spring time ritual sees the ponies fight for supremacy. Photographer Guy Harrop was just passing in his car and with his 80-200mm to hand managed to grab a couple of frames before he got completely soaked in the heavy rain.
