Westcountry travel photographer - Croatian temperatures soar as beach space diminishes

Sun worshippers make their way over the smooth white pebbles at Zlatni Rat beach near Bol in Croatia. The tongue shaped beach forks into the Adriatic attracting crowds fighting for towel space during the summer months when space becomes a premium. A queue of umbrella clad visitors enjoy the first heavy rainfall of the season walking through the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. The lakes get their deep changing colours from calcium and magnesium carbonate from mountain rivers washing through the limestone rocks. The lakes which have 25 km of walking trails attract over 1 million visitors each year and were officially opened in April 1996 after 4 years of Serbian occupation during the civil war.
