Spring finally out on Exmoor as Snowdrop valley blooms

A carpet of snowdrops emerge showing spring is truly on the way in Snowdrop Valley on Exmoor.  They were originally introduced to the valley in the 13th century by monks from nearby Dunster as a symbol of Candlemas (2nd February) and for years the valley was kept secret by locals. Today thousands of visitors travel from all over the world to see the snowdrops which usually only last for 3 weeks. This year has been very late with the recent snowfall only disappearing in the last 2 days. Photo by westcountry PR and press photographer Guy Harrop
