Nordmann fir tree shortage hits UK festive season as stocks sell out

For last minute shoppers Christmas 2009 may prove to be treeless as producers and importers of Nordmann firs are reporting dwindling numbers, selling out in the build up to Christmas. Imports of Nordmann Firs from Denmark have fallen sharply, normally some 2.5m Nordmann Firs are imported annually from Denmark, but this has fallen to just half a million this year due to the weakness of the pound.
